Protecting Your Website

Goal: Prevent common problems.

What you will learn

  • Strong passwords and two-factor authentication
  • Protecting private customer information
  • What version history can and can’t do
  • Spotting suspicious emails and knowing when to get help

Lock the front door

Use a long, unique password for Lovable, your domain registrar and your email. A password manager remembers them for you.

Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) where it’s available. It’s like a second lock that needs a code from your phone.

Verify in your Lovable account

2FA options depend on your account. Verify in your Lovable account.

Keep your details current

Make sure the email, payment card and contact details on every account are up to date. Expired cards and old emails are among the most common reasons websites go offline unexpectedly.

Protect customer information

If your website collects names, emails or messages, treat them like letters in a locked drawer. Don’t share screenshots of them, and don’t paste customers’ private details into the AI chat.

Version history: your undo button (with limits)

Lovable keeps a history of changes to your project, so you can often go back to an earlier version if something goes wrong.

But version history is not necessarily a complete backup of everything. External databases, uploaded files, domains and connected services may not roll back with it.

Keep your own copies of important content: your text, photos, prices and contact details in a simple document or folder.

Verify in your Lovable account

What can be restored depends on your project. Verify in your Lovable account.

Suspicious emails

Be cautious of emails that create urgency (“Your domain expires TODAY, pay now!”), come from odd addresses, or ask for passwords. Never click the link. Log in directly at the official website instead.

When to ask for help

Get professional help before changing domain settings, anything involving payments or customer data, or when a change could take your website offline.
