Understanding Credits, Billing and Expenses

Goal: Understand what the website costs to operate.

What you will learn

  • What Lovable credits are and when they’re used
  • The difference between free and paid plans, monthly and annual
  • The other costs: domain, third-party services, support
  • How to avoid surprise charges

What are credits?

Credits are like tokens at an arcade. Asking Lovable’s AI to make changes uses credits. Different requests can use different amounts.

Your plan decides how many credits you get and how often they refresh. When credits run out, you may not be able to ask the AI for changes until they refresh or you add more, but this does not by itself mean your published website goes offline.

Verify in your Lovable account

Credit amounts, refresh rules and what happens when they run out depend on your plan. Verify in your Lovable account.

Plans and billing periods

Lovable offers free and paid plans. Paid plans can usually be billed monthly or annually. Annual billing is paid once a year, often at a better rate.

Prices change over time, so this course doesn’t list them. Always check the official pricing page for current costs.

If a subscription is canceled, what happens to your plan features, credits and website depends on the plan. Read the official docs before canceling anything.

Other costs to know about

  1. 1Domain renewal: usually paid once a year to your domain registrar. If it lapses, your address can stop working.
  2. 2Hosting: Lovable hosts published websites; check your plan for what’s included.
  3. 3Third-party services: booking tools, email newsletters, payment processors and similar services may bill you separately.
  4. 4Optional maintenance support: if you hire your developer for help.

Avoiding surprises

Put every renewal date in your calendar. Keep billing contact details current. Read billing emails from known senders, and never click payment links in emails you weren’t expecting; log in directly instead.
