Adding and Managing Website Pages
Goal: Learn how to expand the website.
What you will learn
- What pages and navigation menus are
- How to add, edit and link pages
- How to add a button that goes to another page
- How to remove a page safely and check for broken links
Pages and the navigation menu
A webpage is one screen of your website, with its own address, like yourbusiness.com/about.
The navigation menu is the row of links (often at the top, or behind a ☰ icon on phones) that lets visitors move between pages. It is like the hallway connecting the rooms of your house.
Adding a new page
Tell Lovable the page name, what goes on it, and where it should appear in the menu.
Example prompt
Add a new page called ‘Frequently Asked Questions’. Include these five questions and answers: [PASTE QUESTIONS]. Add a link to it in the main navigation menu after ‘Services’. Match the style of the existing pages and do not change any other page.
Buttons and links
A link is clickable text. A button is a clickable shape. Both send visitors somewhere.
When you add a button, always say where it should go: “Add a ‘Book a Call’ button below the intro on the homepage that goes to the Contact page.”
Removing a page safely
Deleting a page is like bricking up a door. Anyone who saved that address, or found it on Google, will hit a dead end.
Before removing a page, ask: Is it linked from other pages or the menu? Could people have bookmarked it? Would it be better to redirect visitors to a similar page?
Important: Removing a page can affect search results and existing links. Ask Lovable to list every place that links to the page before removing it.
Checking for broken links
After any page change, click every menu link and every main button on the live website. If something leads nowhere, ask Lovable to fix it.
